Weekend Writing

Happy Weekend!

The last weekend of January…and I’m in brainstorming mode. My critique group has committed to a February writing challenge, I’ve signed up for a online class and I’ve decided to take my writing in a new direction…I’m going cozy!

February is going to be crazy busy, but I am so excited.

What else is February going to bring? Glad you asked!

I am proud to announce I am a part of a historical western anthology with a group of very talented authors. Look for more info on all my social media places and it will be on sale in both e-versions and print in late February. 🙂

The Little Things #TechChallenged

No matter how many times I edit, save and twist my photos…they always seem to be the wrong way.

This post was originally scheduled to be about the little things in the life that reinforce you are with the right person, in the right place in your life or things that just make you smile at any given time. The feeling of contentment, of bliss. The little thing that fills your heart with happiness…

Instead I’ve spent the last 30 minutes trying to figure out why the hell I can never post a picture that is right side up on this damn blog? Hence the hashtag I was forced to add after finally conceding the loss. LOL

The mug was an impulse buy tonight, while out in the local Target with my daughter…I’m sure it will put a smile on my face tomorrow morning when The Man gets up, finds it in the cabinet and fills it with my coffee, but at the moment I’m thinking wine might be a little more satisfying right now – in the mug? Why not.

And if you know the secret to getting my photos to cooperate with me, please…please share!

A Positive Week #MondayBlogs

A few years ago I added a paper planner back into my life in the effort to get control of the craziness, and I’m so glad I did.

The paper gives me places to satisfy my need to write things down and not rely on my techie devices. I love that I can use my colored post-it notes, my highlighters, etc.

And one of my favorite things is to put an inspirational quote right up front, so when I open the planner…I’m hit between the eyes with something positive to motivate me!

This week my focus is on striving to be better than last week. That means being more efficient, more focused on making progress and moving forward toward my goals. With a positive attitude we CAN do anything!

This week I’ve decided is all about improving my social media presence…or if I’m being honest, getting back in the social media game! To accomplish that goal I have color coded my calendar with dots for Twitter, blog posts, Instagram and Facebook. The plan being to blog twice a week and then use the other sites to be chatty 80% of the time and the other 20% to drive some traffic back to my blog and my books.

I’ll post my progress as the weeks go on.

What are you doing this week to move positively towards your goals?

Have a great week!

Welcome to 2017!

Welcome to 2017

I don’t believe in New Year Resolutions. What I do believe in is a yearly mantra and after much thought on the subject, the above is what I came up for this year.

Be Positive…because there is ALWAYS something good to find. Sometimes life gives us lessons, sometimes is gives us exactly what we think we need or the complete opposite. But whatever happens, our reaction is what colors the moment. The whole honey instead of vinegar idea? Yea…that!

Be Brave…Every day we get out of bed there is a new opportunity to move forward toward a goal, it’s a new chance to change something, to do something, to make a difference in your own life. But let’s be honest, sometimes change is scary! Every hurdle, every choice, requires us to be brave and push forward. Sometimes you have to close your eyes and leap. You are braver than you think!

Be Committed…Because goals won’t happen overnight and dreams don’t come true if we don’t work toward them. To To reach for the brass ring, you have to actually be ON the merry-go-round…not standing on the side and dreaming about it. Whatever goal or dream you have for the future…commit to it every day!

Happy 2017 my friends!

Thoughts for a Sunday

Hmmm…who wouldn’t be swayed by the lure of a clean rest room?

Let me start by saying I HATE New Year resolutions. At least for me, I never get through the first few weeks, then I feel like a failure by February.

I prefer an yearly mantra. A few key words or a sentence that I feel sums up where I want to be by the end of the year or how I want to live my life.

A few years back one of my keywords was “tribe” as in, I needed to find my tribe and surround myself with a tribe of those who were headed in the same direction.

I blogged a lot, was a constant visitor to my Facebook page and twitter.

Then, life happens and derails the train.

So, this year as I consider what my 2017 Mantra will be, I look at the sign and remember the destination we hope for is important to keep in focus, but it’s the journey that creates the memories.

Knowing that clean rest room was waiting was a plus…having enjoyed lunch with an old friend I hadn’t seen in years and sharing the laughs as we found our way to that clean rest room up the back stairs, through a dark narrow hallway, was worth way more.

As we head in to the mad dash to Christmas, I wish you a safe week ahead…wherever your destination may be.

See you next week! 🙂
